Identical twin gives birth to her own set of identical twins

In what experts have described as 'almost unheard of' in two generations, an identical twin has given birth to her own set of identical twins. Michelle Cook, 33, who has a twin sister, Sarah, couldn't believe it when the doctors said she was pregnant with twins. She said: ‘I couldn’t believe it when the sonographer said that I was pregnant with twins. Then to find out that I was pregnant with identical twins was just unbelievable. I rang my identical twin Sarah and told her and she just screamed down the phone. She couldn't believe it either.’
The odds of having identical twins is about 3 in 1,000. The 33-year-old who lives in Cobham, Surrey, and also has daughter Evie, gave birth to Elsie and Marni in September. The twins were delivered by Caesarean in September at the Kingston Hospital in Surrey, Marnie weighing a healthy 5Ib 2oz, and Elsie weighing 4Ib 7oz.

They looked so alike when they were born, she even painted Marnie’s fingernail pink so she could tell them apart. Mrs Cooke hopes that her twin girls will be as close as she and her sister, who has two children Oliver, four, and Poppy, two, with her fiance James Griggs, 41.
Sarah and I were so close when we were growing up and we still have that really special close bond. We would swap classes at school and swap clothes at parties to confuse people, and even our boyfriends. ‘We think like each other too - we will often finish each others sentences, and we have the same tastes in clothes and furniture. ‘Our own mother can’t even tell us apart still sometimes, especially on the phone. 'I’d love my girls to have that closeness too. An identical twin bond is a really emotional bond to have and I’m thrilled that my daughters will experience it too. ‘When I tell people that I’m an identical twin and I’ve just given birth to identical twins, they can’t quite believe it.’

A spokeswoman for The Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) said: ‘Identical twins don’t run in families and are spontaneous occurrences so for an identical twin to go on to give birth to identical twins herself is incredibly rare.’

Mum who was told she couldn't have any more kids gives birth to a baby boy

A mum, 36 year old Emma Bromfield, who was told she could never have any more children was shocked after she gave birth to a baby boy - just two days after she found out she was pregnant.
Emma and her husband Jason, 38, had not planned on adding to their family after already defying the odds to have Millie, seven, Molly, six, and 15-month-old George.

But after missing her period last month, Emma did a pregnancy test on Tuesday and was stunned when she realised she was expecting.
She went to her GP on Thursday morning after passing blood and was sent for an early pregnancy scan at the Queen's Hospital in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs.

Her doctor told her there was a heartbeat and that she was around nine weeks pregnant but could be having a miscarriage.

But Emma had the shock of her life when a midwife at the hospital told her she was actually 35 weeks pregnant.
Incredibly, the mum-of-four was taken to the maternity ward to be examined at 3.30pm where they realised she had dilated 5cm and was already in labour.
Emma then delivered a healthy baby boy Frankie, who weighed 6lb 1oz, just 40 minutes later at 4.10pm.

Sunday, Emma, who lives with her husband-of-nine years Jason in Newhall, Derbyshire, said she didn't gain any weight or have any pregnancy symptoms.
She added:

"The nurse who was doing the scan said: 'I don't know what to say, this scan shows you are 35 weeks gone'. "I was in total shock. "I am not new to the signs of pregnancy and I had not had any of the morning sickness I had had with the other three.
"With George I was waddling around and couldn't even do up my coat. "With this one I hadn't put on any weight and I was still in my everyday jeans. "Amazingly, I've actually lost weight now and I've had to buy loads of new clothes.
"It was the best pregnancy ever. "I had read about this in magazines and always thought: 'how could you go that long without knowing?' And then it happened to me."
Emma, who works as a lunchtime supervisor at a school, said everything happened so quickly that the sex of their new baby was a complete surprise.

Emma's Husband who is a security officer said:
"I was only 15 minutes away from the hospital and probably drove through three or four red lights. "I called work to tell them I wasn't coming in because my wife was in labour. "They said: 'we didn't even know your wife was pregnant ' and I said: 'neither did I'.
"I got to the hospital ten minutes after Emma gave birth. "She did everything in a day instead of nine months. "We really have defied the odds. "It's unbelievable.
"We are still in shock, but it was a nice early Christmas present for us."
The surprise birth was made all the sweeter because when she was younger Emma had problems with her ovaries and was told she couldn't have children.
Dad Jason added: "When I met her, we had two girls and then Emma suffered two miscarriages both at five weeks.

"She was then told she probably couldn't have a baby boy and amazingly we've now had two."
Emma added: "Our other children have taken to him really well, although Molly thought we had bought Frankie from the hospital shop and asked if it had run out of girls.

Kenyan mothers name newborns after Pope Francis

Following the visit of Pope Francis to Kenya, 13 babies born , November 26, at Kakamega County Referral Hospital, were named after him. Some of the names includes Francisca, Francis, Pope Devin, Pope Francis, Fransisco, Pope Wambua.
According to Standard Digital News, the hospital maternity ward has recorded 13 newborns since the Pope's arrival. The happy mothers said they had decided to name their babies after the Pope to draw from the character of the Catholic Pontif Immaculate Katiechi delivered her baby boy at 1am and immediately named the child Pope Devin, but said was considering registering the baby as Pope Francis.

Another baby boy was delivered at Nakuru Nursing Home a few hours after the Pope’s arrival was also named Francis. Linda Tanui, the baby’s mother, said her sister had suggested that the newborn be named after the Pope.

A nun belonging to a Catholic family from Mogotio in Baringo County had suggested that the new member be named Fransisco Mario, which is the other name of the Pontiff. Alice Ng’etich, the grandmother of the newborn, said the coincidence is a sign of God’s love for the family, which is still recovering from the loss of one of her children.
At Coast General Hospital, 29 babies were born after midnight and a few mothers named their children after the Pope. Mercy Wambua, a resident of Tudor, named her baby Pope Wambua. Another mother Betty Murende, who is a devoted Catholic, named her daughter Francisca out of respect for the visiting Pope.

Mum spends £20k turning toddler into beauty queen

A 23 year single mum, Jas Sullivan, has splurged over $30,000 transforming her 22-month-old daughter into a beauty queen.
She dresses her 22 month old,  Minnie-Beau in $20,000 worth of designer clothes and even makes her wear hair extensions and full make-up for pageants.
Her flamboyant beauty pageant costumes including a corset-style dress
and a ruffled two-piece bikini and the tot is dripping in over $2,000 worth of gold jewellery.
Now Minnie-Beau is making a name for herself on the beauty pageant scene with her trademark pout setting her apart from her rivals.
Jas said:

“I’ve been accused of sexualising my daughter but the people that say that are the ones with the sick thoughts – that doesn’t even enter my mind.
“It’s just like a dance competition – you get marked on your routines, your outfits and your make up too.
“I’ve spent probably around the price mark of twenty thousand pounds on Minnie and she’s worth every penny.
Minnie took part in her first competition when she was just 18 months old after Jas saw a TV show about pageants.
And the youngster dazzled the judges with her hair and eyelash extensions and £600 worth of outfits.
Her make-up regime included blusher, eyebrow pencil and coral lipstick and her tiny nails were painted a brilliant white.

Woman gives birth while on a plane flying from Taiwan to LA

The unnamed 32-weeks pregnant woman was flying from her home country of Taiwan to Los Angeles with China Airlines when she went into labour. According to reports, when her water broke six hours into the 19-hour flight, panicked staff called for medical assistance on the flight. Fortunately, a doctor responded and was able to successfully deliver the baby girl while being filmed.
Amira Rajput, a passenger on same flight who filmed the video praised the new mother. "The woman is tough as nails," Amira Rajput told ABC. "People were super quiet and calm so that this woman could have a stress-free experience."

The plane then made an emergency landing at the Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska, where mother and daughter were taken to hospital.
The plane continued its journey to Los Angeles, after being refuelled. Both mother and child are reported to be in a good condition. The nationality of the baby girl will depend upon the birth certificate issued by the Anchorage hospital as she was born in US airspace but on-board a Republic of China aircraft.

Baby Born 4 Months Early Beats Several Odds to Clock 3

Hope Prestleton was born four months early in February, 2012, weighing just 1lb 11oz. She was so tiny doctors said she may not survive or grow up disabled, and had to keep her warm by swaddling her in a bubble wrap. She has now defied the odds by growing into a quite healthy 3-year-old.
According to Mirror UK, her mum, Tracie, was admitted for monitoring three days prior to her birth after her waters leaked, and eventually welcomed her via an emergency caesarean section.

Recounting the experience, her thrilled mum, 32, said: “When I saw Hope for the first time she was so small. Doctors said because she came so early she was in a lot of danger and there was a risk she might not survive at all. If she did survive she could end up disabled…they took her away to check her. Doctors said she didn’t need to be ventilated as she was really strong and could breathe on her own. I thought: ‘that’s good,’ but they said it was very unusual. Everyone called her a miracle.

Hope’s heart slowed down and stopped several times but while doctors tried to interfere she recovered within seconds. She was only on a ventilator for nine days whereas other babies born around 25 weeks tend to be on them for months. She was well enough to leave the hospital three weeks earlier than planned too. Other premature babies born when Hope was stayed in for months longer than her. We were scared about bringing her home. We thought: ‘will something happen to her now?’ We worried things would go down-hill unexpectedly, but nurses said she was above average.”
Now, Hope is doing so well, enjoying lots of bonding time with her family, especially her 5-year-old brother, Alex, and has recently started nursery school.

Gabrielle Union speaks candidly about her battle to conceive

42 year old actress Gabrielle Union has a lot going on in her life, with a career that's going strong and a marriage to her basketball player Husband- Dwayne Wade, that keeps her smiling.
And while she doesn't yet have children of her own, she believes it's important that she and other women don't feel guilty about that. And they shouldn't give up.

"If you happen to have issues with fertility as you've gotten older and you happen to have a career, all is not lost," she explained during a Monday morning visit to TODAY. "There is so much hope, there are so many options."
In an interview with Redbook last month, Union, who's married to NBA star Dwyane Wade, said, "So far, it has not happened for us. A lot of my friends deal with struggles to have a baby. There's a certain amount of shame that is placed on women who have perhaps chosen a career over starting a family younger."
But on TODAY, Union stressed how important it is not to feel that shame.

"Fertility is an issue, period," she said, speaking for women in general, rather than herself. "Having a career is not the price you pay for any ill."
'I was actually not talking about IVF for me personally, but more of just in general,' Gabrielle responded.
'Most of my friends who have done IVF aren't women in their 40's - women in their 20's and 30's.'
"I think TV shows and films kind of make out that the frigid, single-focused career woman, that her career is the root of all problems in her life," she said. 'Can't find a man, it's the career. Marriage falls apart, it's the career!...and that's just not the case.'

Union is stepmother to her Husband- Dwayne Wade's three children.
