Identical twin gives birth to her own set of identical twins

In what experts have described as 'almost unheard of' in two generations, an identical twin has given birth to her own set of identical twins. Michelle Cook, 33, who has a twin sister, Sarah, couldn't believe it when the doctors said she was pregnant with twins. She said: ‘I couldn’t believe it when the sonographer said that I was pregnant with twins. Then to find out that I was pregnant with identical twins was just unbelievable. I rang my identical twin Sarah and told her and she just screamed down the phone. She couldn't believe it either.’
The odds of having identical twins is about 3 in 1,000. The 33-year-old who lives in Cobham, Surrey, and also has daughter Evie, gave birth to Elsie and Marni in September. The twins were delivered by Caesarean in September at the Kingston Hospital in Surrey, Marnie weighing a healthy 5Ib 2oz, and Elsie weighing 4Ib 7oz.

They looked so alike when they were born, she even painted Marnie’s fingernail pink so she could tell them apart. Mrs Cooke hopes that her twin girls will be as close as she and her sister, who has two children Oliver, four, and Poppy, two, with her fiance James Griggs, 41.
Sarah and I were so close when we were growing up and we still have that really special close bond. We would swap classes at school and swap clothes at parties to confuse people, and even our boyfriends. ‘We think like each other too - we will often finish each others sentences, and we have the same tastes in clothes and furniture. ‘Our own mother can’t even tell us apart still sometimes, especially on the phone. 'I’d love my girls to have that closeness too. An identical twin bond is a really emotional bond to have and I’m thrilled that my daughters will experience it too. ‘When I tell people that I’m an identical twin and I’ve just given birth to identical twins, they can’t quite believe it.’

A spokeswoman for The Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) said: ‘Identical twins don’t run in families and are spontaneous occurrences so for an identical twin to go on to give birth to identical twins herself is incredibly rare.’

Mum who was told she couldn't have any more kids gives birth to a baby boy

A mum, 36 year old Emma Bromfield, who was told she could never have any more children was shocked after she gave birth to a baby boy - just two days after she found out she was pregnant.
Emma and her husband Jason, 38, had not planned on adding to their family after already defying the odds to have Millie, seven, Molly, six, and 15-month-old George.

But after missing her period last month, Emma did a pregnancy test on Tuesday and was stunned when she realised she was expecting.
She went to her GP on Thursday morning after passing blood and was sent for an early pregnancy scan at the Queen's Hospital in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs.

Her doctor told her there was a heartbeat and that she was around nine weeks pregnant but could be having a miscarriage.

But Emma had the shock of her life when a midwife at the hospital told her she was actually 35 weeks pregnant.
Incredibly, the mum-of-four was taken to the maternity ward to be examined at 3.30pm where they realised she had dilated 5cm and was already in labour.
Emma then delivered a healthy baby boy Frankie, who weighed 6lb 1oz, just 40 minutes later at 4.10pm.

Sunday, Emma, who lives with her husband-of-nine years Jason in Newhall, Derbyshire, said she didn't gain any weight or have any pregnancy symptoms.
She added:

"The nurse who was doing the scan said: 'I don't know what to say, this scan shows you are 35 weeks gone'. "I was in total shock. "I am not new to the signs of pregnancy and I had not had any of the morning sickness I had had with the other three.
"With George I was waddling around and couldn't even do up my coat. "With this one I hadn't put on any weight and I was still in my everyday jeans. "Amazingly, I've actually lost weight now and I've had to buy loads of new clothes.
"It was the best pregnancy ever. "I had read about this in magazines and always thought: 'how could you go that long without knowing?' And then it happened to me."
Emma, who works as a lunchtime supervisor at a school, said everything happened so quickly that the sex of their new baby was a complete surprise.

Emma's Husband who is a security officer said:
"I was only 15 minutes away from the hospital and probably drove through three or four red lights. "I called work to tell them I wasn't coming in because my wife was in labour. "They said: 'we didn't even know your wife was pregnant ' and I said: 'neither did I'.
"I got to the hospital ten minutes after Emma gave birth. "She did everything in a day instead of nine months. "We really have defied the odds. "It's unbelievable.
"We are still in shock, but it was a nice early Christmas present for us."
The surprise birth was made all the sweeter because when she was younger Emma had problems with her ovaries and was told she couldn't have children.
Dad Jason added: "When I met her, we had two girls and then Emma suffered two miscarriages both at five weeks.

"She was then told she probably couldn't have a baby boy and amazingly we've now had two."
Emma added: "Our other children have taken to him really well, although Molly thought we had bought Frankie from the hospital shop and asked if it had run out of girls.

Kenyan mothers name newborns after Pope Francis

Following the visit of Pope Francis to Kenya, 13 babies born , November 26, at Kakamega County Referral Hospital, were named after him. Some of the names includes Francisca, Francis, Pope Devin, Pope Francis, Fransisco, Pope Wambua.
According to Standard Digital News, the hospital maternity ward has recorded 13 newborns since the Pope's arrival. The happy mothers said they had decided to name their babies after the Pope to draw from the character of the Catholic Pontif Immaculate Katiechi delivered her baby boy at 1am and immediately named the child Pope Devin, but said was considering registering the baby as Pope Francis.

Another baby boy was delivered at Nakuru Nursing Home a few hours after the Pope’s arrival was also named Francis. Linda Tanui, the baby’s mother, said her sister had suggested that the newborn be named after the Pope.

A nun belonging to a Catholic family from Mogotio in Baringo County had suggested that the new member be named Fransisco Mario, which is the other name of the Pontiff. Alice Ng’etich, the grandmother of the newborn, said the coincidence is a sign of God’s love for the family, which is still recovering from the loss of one of her children.
At Coast General Hospital, 29 babies were born after midnight and a few mothers named their children after the Pope. Mercy Wambua, a resident of Tudor, named her baby Pope Wambua. Another mother Betty Murende, who is a devoted Catholic, named her daughter Francisca out of respect for the visiting Pope.
